INDEPENDENCE -- Independence City Council will be full of familiar faces next year.

John McArdle, who ran unopposed for mayor, was re-elected to the position for his sixth consecutive two-year term.

Diana Lindskog and Marilyn Morton were re-elected in their unopposed bids to reclaim their Position 1 and Position 2 seats, respectively.

Morton has been a councilor since 2000; this will be Lindskog's second term.

In the only contested race, incumbent Tom Takacs defeated challenger Cynthia Jaramillo for Position 4, receiving nearly 60 percent of the vote to Jaramillo's 40 percent.

Takacs was appointed as councilor in July to fill in the remaining six months of former councilor Tim Hind's term.
