JUNIOR BASEBALL: Central Youth Sports American JBO squad captures district title

INDEPENDENCE -- The Central Youth Sports American Junior Baseball team recently captured the Valley League district championship after rolling through last weekend's tournament undefeated in Albany.

INDEPENDENCE -- The Central Youth Sports American Junior Baseball team recently captured the Valley League district championship after rolling through last weekend's tournament undefeated in Albany.

Central defeated South Salem 12-2 in Sunday's championship game to advance to the State Tournament hosted by Lincoln (Portland), held Thursday through Sunday.

Players on the squad, coached by Timm Cable, Rick DeLeon and Matt Holliday, range from 10 to 13 years old and attend Talmadge Middle and Monmouth Elementary schools.
