Central High School's Biddy Basketball program for first- and second-grade girls and boys is entering its sixth season

. Practices, run by Panther coaches and players, will be held on Saturday mornings at Monmouth Elementary School from Jan. 6-Feb. 10. The cost is $40 per player. . The fee for second graders is $30 per player. The fee for third-sixth graders is $40 per player. The number of teams will depend on the number of volunteers. For more information, call the Kids Inc. office Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 p.m.-6 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at 503-623-6419. The tryout clinic will be held Jan. 6 at 9 a.m. at Whitworth Elementary (new gym) for girls and LaCreole Middle School (upper gym) for boys. All players must attend. Kids Inc. also is seeking a coordinator for the boys league.

A donation of two non-perishable food items will be good for entrance into today's men's basketball game between Western Oregon and Cascade College

. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Western Oregon gym. The event is co-sponsored by the Central Lions Club, and all proceeds will go to needy children in the Polk County area.

The Polk County Ski Club is sponsoring trips to Mt. Hood Meadows every other Saturday, with the next trip scheduled for Dec. 16 (depending on snow conditions)

. The bus leaves the Safeway grocery store parking lot, 138 W. Ellendale, at 6 a.m. and returns at approximately 7:30 p.m. Packages are available from $12 (transportation only) to a $30 beginner special. Registration for Central Youth Sports Basketball in grades three-six is every Wednesday from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the CYS office, 169 Broad St., Monmouth

. It's also possible to register on-line at WWW.OPEN.ORG/-CENTRAL. Tryouts will be Dec. 9 at Talmadge Middle School, boys at 8:45 a.m. and girls at 10 a.m. The cost is $25 per player in grades three-four and $30 in grades five-six. Youngsters interested in swimming are invited to join the Dallas Blue Dolphins Swim Team

. The team is scheduled to begin working out at the new Dallas Aquatic Center in January. Experience is preferred, and the position will be open in January. A stipend will be paid depending on experience. Registration is underway for the Dallas Wrestling Fan Club

. For a $10 fee, you will receive a handbook with pictures of the wrestlers from Dallas High School and LaCreole Middle School. Members also will receive schedules with directions to the various meets and a Wrestling Newsletter during the season. Season ticket packages for the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes now are on sale
