DALLAS -- Week after week, month after month, Dallas residents have watched a fascinating work in progress called the Dallas Aquatic Center. Situated next to LaCreole Middle School, travelers along LaCreole Drive have witnessed the transformation of a nondescript field to a gleaming facility sporting sea green and aqua blue colors.
Ending years of planning and much anticipation, the aquatic center will open on Saturday, Nov. 4 with an open house from 9 a.m. to noon.
After the ribbon cutting and the speeches, the public will be invited in to tour the $6 million wonder which includes four pools, a spa, a water slide, a fountain, two diving boards and a multi-purpose meeting room.
The staff will pass out tickets in the morning, good for one hour swims which will be held at 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. The pool will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. for family swim. On Sunday the pool will be open from noon to 8 p.m. for open swim.
Regular admission for city residents is $4.50 for adults and $3 for people 17 and under. The cost for non-residents is $6 for adults and $4 people 17 and under. Discounts will be available for those wishing to buy advance purchase cards but these cards will not be valid for special programs which are offered at a discounted price.
Programs will include one-hour lap swims, water exercise, therapy sessions, swim lessons and programmed classes.
