Dallas High to host youth baseball camps April 14 and May 5.

Brian Trowbridge, a junior from Dallas, led the Linfield golf team with a two-round total of 155 recently in the Northwest Conference Spring Tournament in Tacoma, Wash

. Linfield finished second of four teams with a 633 total.

Dallas High School is hosting a pair of youth baseball camps April 14 and May 5

. Dallas coaches and players will serve as instructors, and the focus will be on the fundamentals of hitting, pitching and fielding. Ages 5-9 will go from 10 a.m.-noon, and ages 10-14 will go from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. The cost is $15 for one camp or $20 for two. Players can register at the Dallas High School field the day of the camp.

The Polk County Ski Club is sponsoring a day trip to Mt. Hood Meadows April 21

. The bus leaves the Safeway parking lot, 138 W. Ellendale, at 6 a.m. and will return at approximately 7 p.m. Reservations are encouraged. Registration for Kids, Inc. of Dallas Babe Ruth baseball will be at held April 14 at two sites -- 10 a.m.-noon at the Kids, Inc. office, 187 SW Court St., and 1 p.m.-4 p.m. at the Dallas High School baseball camp

. The league is for boys ages 13-15 as of Aug. 1, 2001. The registration fee of $100 does not have to be paid up front. any registration forms turned in after April 14 will be put on a waiting list. The Annual Les Schwab/Blazer Alumni Basketball Game is set for April 14 at Western Oregon University. Former Blazers scheduled to attend include Larry Steel, Darnell Valentine and Michael Harper

The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes Pitch, Hit and Run youth skills competition will be held at Volcanoes Stadium May 6

. Boys and girls ages 11-14 will start at 1 p.m., and those 7-10 will start at 3 p.m. Prizes will be awarded and winners will get to meet Volcanoes players prior to a game this summer. The Northwest Magic Track and Field Camp will be held June 27-July 1 at Western Oregon

. The camp is open to all high schoolers who will be freshmen, sophomores, juniors or seniors in fall 2001. Camp leaders will be WOU track coach John Knight and veteran track coach Mike Johnson. There will be multiple training sessions each day, including strength training, classroom sessions, elementary and advanced drills and video analysis. Oregon Amateur Basketball is sponsoring a F.A.S.T. regional qualifier May 4-6 in the Eugene/Springfield area

Central Youth Sports is seeking individuals interested in helping with evening and Saturday baseball games

Central softball coach Larry Buehler is planning hitting clinics that will be held in the school's new batting cages

Brooke Bennett, a two-time gold medalist in the 2000 Summer Olympics, is scheduled to take part in the Western Oregon Youth Swim Camp June 17-21

. The camp is open to ages 9 to 16 and will focus on all four competitive strokes: freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke and backstroke. Campers may stay over night or commute. Bennett will work with the campers June 21 and present them with certificates at the closing ceremony. Also included on the coaching staff are Jeff Welechuk, Suha Tokman, Jennifer Alden and Elke Asleson. The registration deadline is May 17. Space is limited, and a deposit is required.
