The Dallas future champs seventh-grade basketball team shows its stuff in Canby.

The Dallas Future Champs seventh-grade boys basketball team captured first place Feb. 17-18 at the Canby Invitational

. The Dallas team swept four games in the tournament, beating Canby 67-64, Beaverton 70-29, Tualatin 75-46 and Lake Oswego 59-58. Team members are Tyson Smith, Jordan Radke, Kevin Clardy, Jeremy May, Andrew Mendez, Dustin Hiebert, Kurt Growald, Kyle Keen, Rohan Cordy and Joe Austin. Head coach Ruben Mendez is assisted by Rick Clardy and Doug Hiebert.

The Polk County Ski Club is sponsoring trips to Mt. Hood Meadows every other Saturday, with the next trip scheduled for March 10

. The bus leaves the Safeway parking lot, 138 W. Ellendale, at noon and returns at approximately 1 a.m. Reservations are encouraged. Various packages are available for juniors, adults and beginners. The Second Annual Dallas Dragon Golf Team Scramble is scheduled for March 17 at Dallas Golf Club

. Play in the four-man scramble will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The $40 per-person entry fee includes green fee, range balls, on-course beverages and lunch. NBA 2ball for kids ages 8-11 will be held at 9 a.m. March 3 at the Whitworth Elementary Gym

Central Youth Sports is seeking individuals interested in volunteering their time to help with evening and Saturday baseball games

The Salem Track Club is seeking new members

. Interested persons can attend one of 10 meetings planned throughout the area, including one March 5 from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at Central High School. The Club helps young people develop their track skills and is affiliated with USA Track and Field-Oregon, Road Runners of America and the Amateur Athletic Union. Practices begin April 2 and will be held at Willamette University's McCulloch Stadium. Meets begin April 21 and continue through the state meet in early June. Panthers Kids Wrestling is looking for wrestlers between the ages of 6 and 14

. The team practices two or three days a week at Central High School and participates in tournaments around the state. Wrestlers are required to have a USA membership card.
