Central softball coach Larry Buehler is planning hitting clinics that will be held in the school's new batting cages

. The clinics will be held Wednesday and Sunday afternoons, and the charge is $10 per half-hour of instruction. Proceeds will be used to help buy new nets for the hitting cages, which are covered and lighted. For more information or to make reservations, call Buehler at 503-838-2257.

Oregon Amateur Basketball is sponsoring a F.A.S.T. regional qualifier May 4-6 in the Eugene/Springfield area

. The top three finishers qualify for the F.A.S.T. national tournament July 29-Aug. 5 in Kissimmee, Fla. The entry fee is $250 per team, and there is a five-game guarantee. For more information, call Oregon Amateur Basketball at 541-517-4160.

Central Youth Sports is seeking individuals interested in volunteering their time to help with evening and Saturday baseball games

Registration for Kids, Inc.,/LaCreole Middle School seventh and eighth grade baseball is underway

. The registration fee is $100 per player. Practices begin April 2 with tryouts planned for mid-April. The number of players is limited. This is not the summer league. For more information, call Kids, Inc., at 503-623-6419 from 2 p.m.-6 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays or from 9 a.m.-noon Fridays.

Brooke Bennett, a two-time gold medalist in the 2000 Summer Olympics, is scheduled to take part in the Western Oregon Youth Swim Camp June 17-21

. The camp is open to ages 9 to 16 and will focus on all four competitive strokes: freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke and backstroke. Campers may stay over night or commute. Bennett will work with the campers June 21 and present them with certificates at the closing ceremony. Also included on the coaching staff are Jeff Welechuk, Suha Tokman, Jennifer Alden and Elke Asleson. The registration deadline is May 17. Space is limited, and a deposit is required. Registration is underway for the Dallas Wrestling Fan Club

. For a $10 fee, you will receive a handbook with pictures of the wrestlers from Dallas High School and LaCreole Middle School. Members also will receive schedules with directions to the various meets and a Wrestling Newsletter during the season. Panthers Kids Wrestling is looking for wrestlers between the ages of 6 and 14

. The team practices two or three days a week at Central High School and participates in tournaments around the state. Wrestlers are required to have a USA membership card. Season ticket packages for the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes now are on sale

. Cost of the packages range from $35 (five games) to $342 (38 games). The Volcanoes, a Class A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, begin their fifth Northwest league campaign June 19 at home against the Boise Hawks. For more information, call 503-390-2225, extension 3007.

The Polk County Ski Club is sponsoring trips to Mt. Hood Meadows every other Saturday, with the next trip scheduled for March 10

. The bus leaves the Safeway parking lot, 138 W. Ellendale, at noon and returns at approximately 1 a.m. Reservations are encouraged. Various packages are available for juniors, adults and beginners.
