CYS Youth Sports is hosting a 3-on-3 basketball tournament for 5th-8th grade girls.

The Dragon Scramble golf tournament was postponed because of poor weather from March 17 to April 27

. The four-player scramble is a fund raiser for the Dallas golf team, which had its funding cut by the school district. Play will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start at Dallas Golf Club. The cost of $50 per player includes range balls, green fee, a catered lunch and on-course beverages. Hole sponsors also are needed. Central Youth Sports Spring Soccer will be held from 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. on Saturdays from April 13 through May 18 at the Monmouth Elementary School

Central Youth Sports is hosting a three-on-three basketball tournament for fifth-eighth grade girls

. The tournament will be played at Talmadge Middle School, 510 16th St. in Independence, on April 20. Play will begin at 9 a.m. The entry deadline is April 10. There is a three-game guarantee. The Panther Invitational golf tournament will be played on May 4 at Dallas Golf Club

. Play will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The tourney is a four-person scramble, and the entry fee of $40 per person includes green fee, range balls, lunch and prizes. Proceeds will benefit the Central golf program. For more information, call CHS golf coach Ron Mountain at 503-838-4063.

Registration for Central Youth Sports Monmouth-Independence softball and baseball is underway

. Registration is being held at the CYS office, 169 Broad St. in Monmouth, on Wednesdays from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. Volunteers also are needed for coaching, concessions, fund raising, umpiring and field maintenance. For more information, call the CYS office at 503-838-4013.

Registration now is being held for Monmouth-Independence spring gymnastics

and T-Ball

. Spring gymnastics is for boys and girls age 3 through fifth grade and teaches four events -- bars, beam, floor exercise and vault. There are three skill levels -- Preschool, Level I and Level II. Instructors will team the basics according to each participant's skill level. Practices will be held from 3:10 p.m.-6 p.m. at Independence Elementary School, 150 S. 4th St. in Independence. The remaining session runs from May 6 to June 5. The program fee ranges from $37 to $45. T-Ball is for boys and girls ages 4-5. Instructors will focus on basic fundamentals and concepts. Practices will be at Independence Elementary School from 6 p.m.-6:45 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Session one runs from May 7-May 30 with a registration deadline of May 2. Session two runs from June 4-June 27 with a registration deadline of May 30. The YMCA also is making plans for summer, including day camps, resident camp and aquatics. Monmouth-Independence Tennis, a local nonprofit group, is collecting funds to build four new lighted tennis courts just south of the courts currently at Central High School

. The effort already has been bolstered by a $12,000 pledge from the Panther Club, a land donation by the Central School District and proceeds from the Monmouth 4th of July Tennis Tournament. The new courts would allow for expanded youth programs, community clinics and high school physical education classes and team practices.
