Community effort will raise money for local shelter

DALLAS -- The Dallas FFA Christmas Tree Sale begins Saturday, Nov. 30, and will be open until Sunday, Dec. 22, at the Dallas Wal-Mart parking lot.

Proceeds will be used by the chapter to help fund different competitions such as those of speaking, sales, etc., and to aid members in attending the state convention in Hermiston.

Members of the Dallas FFA Alumni invite the community to attend their monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19 in the Ag Room at Dallas High School.

Boy Scouts

MONMOUTH -- Members of Boy Scout Troop 38 of Monmouth-Independence will be holding their annual Christmas tree sale in the Market Place parking lot on the corner of Broad and Main streets beginning on Saturday, Nov. 30.

This year they will be selling fresh, local Noble Fir and Douglas Fir in various sizes.

Sale hours will be:

♦ Saturdays 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

♦ Sundays noon to 4 p.m.

♦ Mondays through Fridays 4 to 7 p.m.

This is the main fund raiser for Troop 38 for the year.

Funds will be used to help send boys to camp to help build character and good Scouting skills.

Sable House

DALLAS -- Volunteers for Sable House will be recycling Christmas trees Saturday, Jan. 4.

There is a suggested donation of $5 per tree.
