Twila Ware of Lake Oswego fell and injured her hip. After two weeks, it was discovered that she had broken bones. She had surgery Dec. 15 at the hospital in Tualatin and is rehabilitating and getting along very well.
Twila's sister-in-law, Carla Burbank, and Carla's daughter, Shelly, went to visit her on Dec. 17. While there, Carla had to have treatment for a breathing problem and Shelly had a very high blood sugar count and was in the hospital until the afternoon of Dec. 19, until when she went home with her father, Wes Burbank, and mother.
Among others visiting Twila were her sister and brother-in-law, Alberta and Ted Jones, and Dave and Suzanne Burbank, who also visited Shelly.
A baby shower honoring Desiree Pointer of Pedee was held the evening of Dec. 19 at the Women's Club House. Her sister and shower hostess, Natasha Pointer, was assisted by their friend, Paula, who provided a beautiful Christmas buffet.
Ted and Alberta Jones recently spent several days moving Ted's brother, Glen Jones from Salem to Dallas.
Aaron Burbank and Day Hayes assisted Pastor Lonnie Burbank at the Dec. 18 worship service. Christmas carols were sung, and Aaron led the prayer time when several needs were given, including to remember Twila Ware and Shelly.
"No Room" was the offertory piano number played by Pam Burbank. Dan Hayes read a scripture lesson from Luke 2 about the journey to Bethlehem and there being no room in the inn.
Then Pastor Lonnie, in costume, sat in a rocking chair for his message, "The Innkeeper." He gave the innkeeper's account of the evening, including the visit by the shepherds and the message that the angel had given them.
Neighbors and friends will welcome in the New Year at a Family Night beginning at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31 at the Women's Club House.
