Agencies offer to recycle Christmas trees

POLK COUNTY -- Groups in Polk County are offering Christmas tree recycling.



Members of the Monmouth Evangelical Church will recycle Christmas trees from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8.

Trees can be dropped off at the church, 191 N. Monmouth Ave., for $3. Church members will pick up trees for $4.

Central High School baseball players will pick up Christmas trees after the holidays.

For $5, team members will come to homes or businesses at a convenient time to pick up trees.

For $3, a tree can be left from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Central School District parking lot, 1610 Monmouth St.

Proceeds will be used to support team activities.

To make arrangements for tree pickups, leave a message with Coach Dale Cutsforth at 503-606-2282. A call will be returned to confirm the address and time of pickup.


Sable House volunteers recycle Christmas trees 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8.

Proceeds benefit Sable House families.

Dallas FFA alumni coordinate the event. Volunteers include members of Boy Scout Troop 288, Dallas FFA and FFA alumni.

For $5, Christmas trees may be taken to:

♦ Dallas Disposal, 1030 W. Ellendale Ave.

♦ Brandt's Sanitary Service, 158 S. Highway 99W.

♦ Sunflower Barn, 4299 Riddell Road, Monmouth.
