DALLAS -- The Dallas Booster Club Auction will make its return on Nov. 12 at Eola Hills Winery.
The auction had been an annual and productive event until it was discontinued sometime late in the 1990s.
"We'll pretty much have something for everyone," Booster Club president Kathie Brostrom said. "We'll have items for $15 or 20 all the way up to maybe $500 or $1,000. We'll have some things people might want to go in on as a group. We're going to have a lot of different things."
Kathie and husband Tod Brostrom are helping lead the way by donating a weekend on their houseboat in Idaho.
Tickets to the auction will be $15 per person, with eight people to a table. Plans call for participants to bring their own hors d'oeuvres, and there will be a Las Vegas-style dessert bar.
Bringing back the auction is part of a movement to help revitalize the Booster Club, which ahs dwindled to only a handful of participants in the past few years.
"I've been talking to a lot of people, and everybody seems excited," Kathie Brostrom said. "I think the pendulum is changing. People are more excited about getting involved. When people understand all of the money is going to get the kids, they get more excited.
"I think this is something we can bring back. The idea I get is that people are tired of meetings. People are busy. We want to give people an ample opportunity to be part of the booster club and not have to attend meetings all the time."
Anyone can join the booster club. It is not necessary to have a child participating in athletics to join. The cost is $10 per family per year.
