Police make arrest in theater break-ins

DALLAS -- Scott Aaron Martin, 30, has been arrested for December 2005 break-ins at the Fox Theater in downtown Dallas.

Martin was arrested on Feb. 7 after a lengthy interview with Detective Scott Roth of the Dallas Police Department.

During the interview, Martin also admitted to the burglary of a local house. It had gone unreported because the homeowners were vacationing and hadn't yet returned.

Martin took various tools and other items in a series of break-ins at the theater. He took a handgun from the home, the police report said.

He is now being held at the Polk County jail on $50,000 bail.

"The officers did a good job in this case," Asst. Chief Tom Simpson, said, "including uncovering the home burglary. It was unfortunate, however that we had to call the owners to break the bad news during their vacation."

Simpson encouraged citizens to request a vacation house check if they are planning to leave town for an extended period. Forms are available at City Hall.
