Three-vehicle accident on 99W hospitalizes two

MONMOUTH -- Two people were briefly hospitalized Monday evening following a three-vehicle crash on Highway 99W south of Monmouth, Oregon State Police officials said.

The incident occurred about 6:30 p.m. Crystal Corbin, 18, of Philomath was traveling southbound in a 1989 Toyota Coralla when she struck the rear of a Plymouth Voyager that had stopped and was signaling a left turn at milepost 69 near Helmick State Park, OSP officer Dale Young said.

The minivan, driven by Independence librarian Robin Puccetti, was bumped into the northbound lane and collided with a Ford Explorer, which flipped over, Young said.

Corbin was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis. The driver of the Explorer, Diane Tracy of Monmouth, was taken to Salem Hospital.

Young said the women were taken for observation and didn't appear to suffer any serious injuries.

Corbin was driving 60 mph in a 55 mph zone when the accident occurred, Young said. She will be cited for careless driving.
