Robbery story a fake, police say
DALLAS -- Susanna Hillis, 38, of Dallas was arrested last week by law enforcement officers when the story she was telling just didn't add up.
On Wednesday, May 31, Hillis was charged with making a false robbery report to Dallas Police Department.
Hillis was an employee of the Center Market on SW Washington Street. In the early morning hours of May 31, Hillis reported that a dark-skinned man, dressed in black and wearing a black ski mask, robbed her at gunpoint.
Officers from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Dallas Police and Independence Police responded immediately. They set up a search perimeter that encompassed several blocks. A Salem K-9 unit also was brought in, but no suspect was found.
When investigators interviewed Hillis later that afternoon, they found several inconsistencies in her story. During her third interview with police detectives, she confessed that she had staged the incident to get out of working the night shift.
After further investigation into Hillis's background an outstanding warrant was discovered out of Clark County, Wash.
Hillis is apparently wanted there for burglary and theft. She is currently housed in the Polk County jail while she awaits transfer to Clark County.
