POLK COUNTY -- The Coalition to Restore Ritner Creek Bridge will meet at 6 p.m. April 19 at Pedee Women's Club to begin planning celebrations marking the restoration of Ritner Creek Bridge.
The historic covered bridge is the last of its kind in Polk County. Because of the efforts of Polk County officials, grant providers, private donors and coalition volunteers, the bridge's long-awaited restoration will begin this summer.
KLM Construction of Puyallup, Wash., specialists in bridge construction, will undertake the project, which was bid for $391,198.
In addition to groundbreaking and ribbon-cutting celebrations, the group will talk about how to encourage park improvements in the area surrounding the bridge.
The meeting is potluck style. Drinks will be provided.
