Ken and Charlotte Brown of Monmouth are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house Saturday, Aug. 18 at 13100 Maxfield Creek Road in Monmouth.

The 2 to 4 p.m. event will hosted by the couple's children.

Friends are welcome to attend and share their well wishes.

Kenneth Brown and Charlotte Vanderlaan were married Aug. 24, 1957 in Woodland, Calif., officiated by the Reverend Wilson.

They retired from Dallas School District in 1997 and have resided in Polk County for 40 years.

Their family includes Shirley Knutsen of Anacortes, Wash., David and Donna Brown of Troutdale and four grandchildren.

McCaw -- 50th

Darrell and Blanche McCaw of Dallas are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house on Saturday, Aug. 25 at Monmouth Christian Church.

Friends are welcome to attend and share their well wishes at the 1 to 4 p.m. event hosted by the couple's family.

Darrell McCaw and Blanche Faxon were married Aug. 16, 1957 at Church on the Hill in Toledo.

Vern Gomez officiated the ceremony. Attendants were LeRoy McCaw and Letha Faxon.

The couple moved to Polk County in 1962.

Darrell, a mechanic at River Bend Sand and Gravel Company in Salem, retired in 2002. Blanche continues her homemaking.

Both are members of Monmouth Christian Church, where Darrell is an elder and greeter and Blanche leads a weekly Bible study and quilts.

They stay active by bowling, golfing, hunting, camping and traveling.

They recently returned from an 8,000 mile Alaskan trip, visiting friends and family and seeing "God's Country," highlighted with an extensive ferry ride.

The couple enjoys sports. Favorites are Oregon State Beavers and Seattle Mariners.

Their family includes Bob and Ruth Holcomb of Bandon, Lyle and Lori McCaw of Eagle Point, Ron and Laurie Eastridge of Monroe, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
