Pedee News: Nola Womer

At the Pedee Evangelical Church worship service on Aug. 12, Pastor Lonnie Burbank was back in charge after his week-long vacation with wife Pam.

He had the assistance of Aaron Burbank and Dan Hayes. "Happy Birthday" was sung to Angela "Angie" Torren honoring her on her 11th birthday. She was with her grandmother, Sandra Fournier, but sat beside Gage Road neighbor Nonie Burbank.

Angie plans to stay with her grandmother and attend school. Her family lives in California.

Vicki Wood, who attended with mother Pat Lyday, said the health of Pat's brother, Gene Burbank, is improving.

Among visitors introduced were Laura Dyer of Monmouth, who was glad to see her former Monmouth neighbors, Jane Micek and daughters Krystal and Veronica, who live in Laura's former residence in Pedee.

Pam Burbank led the children's church activities.

The pastor's message was "What Would You Promise?" from Judges 10:6-10 and 11:28-33 and a few verses from Psalms.

Paul and Arlene Kovash and Wes and Carla Burbank attended the 4H and FFA Youth Livestock Auction at the Polk County Fair, Aug. 11 where their grandsons Brennan and Derek Burbank exhibited animals.

Brennan had the reserve champion market beef entry, which was auctioned. Derek had the FFA champion gilt. He also had four winning 4-H cooking exhibits.
