Polk County District Attorney John Fisher has announced his intended retirement at the end of 2008.

Polk County District Attorney John Fisher has announced his intended retirement at the end of 2008. Fisher, who has been D.A. since 1999, will wrap up a 21-year association with the office where he started in 1987 as an assistant.

Two candidates already said they'll be on the November 2008 ballot for the non-partisan district attorney position: local attorneys Stan Butterfield of Dallas and Aaron Felton of Salem.
