The Skidmores recently took a 10-day trip to their old home area near Los Angeles. They went to attend a reunion of some of "Skid's" longtime fellow workers of the City of Los Angeles.
It was a joyful occasion to renew old acquaintances and relive old times and adventures.
They visited Harold's brother, Dan, and Juandeane's two brothers, Max and C.J., and their families. They also spent time with their daughter and husband, Teresa and Roy Furutani, and their children Sara and Rachel.
Pastor Lonnie Burbank had the help of Aaron Burbank and Dan Hayes at the Oct. 7 worship service at Pedee Evangelical Memorial Church. He showed the short video of the "World Harvest Mission Offering" in preparation for the Oct. 21 Evangelical Church Mission offering.
A nice surprise was Teresa Jahn Gitomer from Charlotte, N.C., playing the organ and piano for all the singing and services. She was visiting her sister, Linda Chertudi and family in Salem, and they brought her to the service. Also attending was Teresa's sister, Pam Dalton, and Maurice and Lois of Dallas.
The pastor's message, "Do You Love Me" was from scripture readings of John 13:12-17 and 33-35: Jesus set the example, and our hearts must be right as we serve.
World Wide Communion was observed.
Upcoming events at the church include a harvest party after the service on Oct. 21. It will be a chili feed and harvest activities at the home of Steve and Glenda Bush in Kings Valley.
Christmas Shoe Boxes of gifts for the Evangelical Church Missions are due at the church by Sunday, Nov. 4 so they can be sent on time.
The Thanksgiving Worship Service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 18 with a Thanksgiving Dinner to follow at 11:30 a.m.
