DALLAS -- The tallies are in and the plans are set. Dallas will soon see the groundbreaking of a new mall on Ellendale.
Jasper Crossing will be located west of the Rite Aid store. The site work will be done by Canby Excavating Inc., and the retail building will be created by Dalke Construction.
The finished product will be about 40,000 square feet. Construction will begin this winter. An additional 110,000 square feet of retail space may be added at a later date.
As part of the plan, developers will extend NW Jasper Street to connect with Dallas Retirement Village and residential neighborhoods.
Real estate broker Mitch Teal surveyed community residents for suggestions about what kind of businesses ought to be in the mall. Among about 300 requests, the most common was for a shoe store, followed by an ice-cream shop, a Taco Bell and a KFC restaurant.
Other requests included a book store, an outdoor store, clothing stores, a whole foods store, and family sit-down restaurants.
