Residents of Polk County and the rest of Oregon have been given a few extra days before having to remove their studded winter tires.
The Oregon Department of Transportation has extended until Saturday, April 5, the deadline for tire removal. The decision was made last week after snowstorms hit the Cascades and snow fell on lower-elevation regions of the state.
Drivers caught with studded tires on their vehicles in Oregon after April 5 can be fined up to $145.
The original studded tire removal deadline was Tuesday, April 1.
