POLK COUNTY - A Polk County grand jury last week added additional charges in the alleged sex abuse case against Bruce Elliot Benkle.
Benkle, a former barber at a shop on Fairview Avenue in Dallas, is currently housed in the Polk County jail.
Benkle, earlier accused of 17 counts related to an ongoing sexual abuse case, has been charged with three additional counts of third-degree sexual abuse and two counts of tampering with evidence.
Circuit Judge William Horner also raised Benkle's bail from $200,000 to $500,000.
Benkle was arrested at his Salem home on Nov. 20 after a Dallas High School student told school officials that Benkle had allegedly been sexually abusing male and female teenagers at his barber shop.
