Katie Fast of Perrydale has been named the Director of Governmental Affairs for the Salem-based Oregon Farm Bureau.
Fast has served as an Associate Director of Governmental Affairs with Farm Bureau since 2003. As OFB's lead lobbyist, Fast will oversee legislative activities for the organization and will coordinate OFB's participation in elections and OFB Political Action Committee activities. Fast specializes in legislative issues and regulations dealing with water, energy, pesticides, and wildlife issues.
"It is an honor to represent an organization that values entrepreneurialism, nature, and the importance of family," said Fast. "I am also very excited to work with one of the best government affairs teams in Oregon. Even in my expanded role, we will continue to defend agriculture practices so Oregon Farm Bureau members can concentrate on what they do best: providing the best food and fiber for the world."
Fast grew up and worked on her family's Thoroughbred and cattle operation outside Olympia, Wash. She graduated from Oregon State University with a bachelor's degree in animal science and a minor in agricultural business management.
Prior to working for OFB, Fast served as the Director of Government Affairs for the Oregon Cattlemen's Association. Fast lives with her husband, Kirk, and daughter, Julia, on a farm in Perrydale.
