POLK COUNTY -- Nearly 9.7 million board feet of timber in Polk County was sold May 28 at oral auction by the Salem District of the Bureau of Land Management.
The largest sale was the McFall Creek Density Management timber sale of 9.6 million board feet. The winning bid was from Freres Lumber Co. Inc. of Lyons for $1,282,861. The timber was appraised at $353,594.20. There were five other bidders on the parcel.
Two other timber sales in Polk County, the Poison Oak Salvage and the Lake Lyons Salvage, were both purchased by Bob Bateman of Monroe for $10,813 and $6,042, respectively. The two sales totaled approximately 64,000 board feet.
The Poison Oak sale had six other bidders, while the Lake Lyons sale had three additional bidders.
