MONMOUTH/INDEPENDENCE - Tickets remain available for the Monmouth-Independence Chamber of Commerce's 2008 Community Awards Banquet.
The annual event is set for Thursday, March 20, in the Pacific Room at Western Oregon University in Monmouth. It begins at 5:30 p.m. with a silent auction.
Among the award categories scheduled to be presented are First Citizen and Distinguished Service. Other award categories include small business of the year (15 and fewer employees), large business of the year (16 or more employees), new business of the year (opened in 2007), and entrepreneur of the year.
Advance tickets for the banquet, which sold out last year, cost $30 for adults and $15 for children.
Any tickets that remain after noon on March 20 will be available at the door while supplies last at $35 for adults and $20 for children.
Among the award winners at the 2007 banquet were: Joy and Jerry Hoffman, First Citizen; Michael Ainsworth, Distinguished Citizen; and Kay Graven and Dale Cutsforth, teachers of the year.
