The pretty bouquet of autumn mums and green leaves on the piano Sunday morning, Oct. 19, at Pedee Memorial Evangelical Church were from the 50th wedding anniversary reception held at the church Oct. 18 honoring Pete and La Verne Bennett.
Their children honored them with the reception, and relatives and friends gathered and shared the afternoon with them. It was a time of remembering the past and sharing the present.
Pastor Lonnie Burbank had assistance from Dan Hayes for the worship service Oct. 19. The opening hymn was "All Hail The Power of Jesus' Name."
The pastor and Stacy Wiedenmann reminded those in attendance that if they plan to send a "Christmas in a Shoebox" gift for Navajo families they are to be at the church on or before Nov. 2. Be sure to use the instructions on the red sheet or call Stacy at 503-838-1806.
The children had their lesson and activities.
Pastor Burbank closed the prayer requests with prayer.
"The Joy of Giving" from Mathew 6: 19-21 was the pastor's message. "Where are your treasures? That is where your heart will be." The service closed with prayer.
Lew and Sue Burbank of Dallas attended Sunday school and church at Pedee on Oct. 19. Then Lew's nephew and his wife, Lonnie and Pam Burbank, went with them. They had lunch in Dallas, then they went to Vancouver, Wash., to attend the 65th wedding reception honoring Lew's sister Alma and her husband Bill Clark that afternoon at their church.
Among those attending were Alma's sisters, Laura Dyer of Monmouth and Ruth Van Daam of Damascus, her daughter-in-law Diane Van Daam from Alaska, and brother Lyle and Teri Burbank of Philomath.
