DALLAS -- Dallas High School theater students are producing and performing one-act plays this week.

On Friday, April 17, and Saturday, April 18, at 7 p.m. the community is invited to see student director Aaron Fawcett's versions of "Competition Piece," by John S. Wells, and "Pullman Car Hiawatha," by Thorton Wilder.

Theater teacher Blair Cromwell said Fawcett has been directing a series of plays such as these for the past three years. They are different from usual Dallas High productions because of their minimal sets and costumes and play selections, she said.

"Competition Piece" is about acting troupes preparing for an acting competition, and "Pullman Car Hiawatha" is about a group of people on a train to Chicago.

Cromwell said each play features about 20 student actors and technicians.

Admission to both plays, to be held at Dallas High's Bollman Auditorium, is $3 and there is no reserved seating.
