DALLAS -- Nominations are now being accepted for the 53rd annual Dallas Community Awards Ceremony.

The event, scheduled Friday, Jan. 15, recognizes, honors and thanks those individuals and businesses that have made a positive contribution to the community.

Awards are presented in 11 categories: First Citizen, Junior First Citizen, Outstanding Organization, Good Samaritan, Lifetime Achievement, Exceptional Family, Business of the Year, Most Improved Business of the Year, Excellence in Arts, and the Dallas Distinguished Educator Award.

Nominations, which can be made by anyone, are accepted in all of the above categories except the Dallas Distinguished Educator Award.

A committee consisting of previous award recipients will base their winning selections upon the criteria for each award. Nominators may provide up to a one-page testimonial letter with their nomination form.

All nominations must be received by the Dallas Area Chamber of Commerce office by noon on Monday, Jan. 4.

This year's Dallas Community Awards Ceremony, "Glitz & Glamour," is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. at BeckenRidge Vineyard and Event Center, 300 Reuben Boise Road. Tickets are $40 each or two for $75 and available at the chamber office, 119 SW Court St. in Dallas. The event is open to the public and those planning to attend should secure tickets early as it usually sells out.

Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
