Floyd -- 100th birthday

Eva Mae Floyd of Dallas is celebrating her 100th birthday with an open house reception on Saturday, July 18, at First Christian Church in Dallas.

Friends and family are welcome to share their well-wishes from 1 to 4 p.m. at 1079 SE Jefferson St.

Eva Mae Swaim was born July 20, 1909, in Mountain View, Mo. Her family moved in 1916 to Quapaw, Okla., where she grew up. She graduated from high school in 1928.

She married George Floyd in 1929. They lived in Quapaw until moving to Oregon in 1937.

Through the years, Eva has enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada, and to some islands, as well as working in her flower gardens and reading.

She is a member of First Christian Church, Rebekah Lodge, and a garden club she helped organize. She devotes time to volunteer work for West Valley Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels, and a clothes closet for those in need.

Her family includes Glendoris Dyer of Dallas and the late Gloria Riggs. She has six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
