Independence man dies after single-vehicle crash

DALLAS -- A 43-year-old Independence man died while en route to a hospital following a single vehicle accident Friday, July 17, near Dallas.



DALLAS -- A 43-year-old Independence man died while en route to a hospital following a single vehicle accident Friday, July 17, near Dallas.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, at about 12:51 p.m. the department and Dallas Fire responded to a motor vehicle crash in the 3200 block of Mistletoe Road.

There, emergency workers found a Ford Ranger pickup and immediately began tending to the lone occupant and driver, Michael Johns.

Johns was being transported by REACH helicopter to Good Samaritan Hospital and Medical Center in Corvallis, but died while en route as a result of his injuries.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office is investigating the accident. The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.
