Polk County's final 2009 high school graduates were honored during three commencement ceremonies June 4-6.
Thunderstorms couldn't dampen the celebration of Morrison Campus Alternative School, which was forced to move its Thursday, June 4, event outdoors at the Rotary Performing Arts Stage inside to Dallas High School.
Thirty-nine Morrison students were presented diplomas. Class speakers included Brie Acosta, Felicia Howard, Matt Howard, Ariana Locke and Mat Trupka. Honorary guest speaker was Bernay Evers.
A few light sprinkles wasn't enough to spoil the outdoor gathering at Falls City High School on Friday, June 5, as 12 seniors were recognized during commencement ceremonies.
Amanda Stoltz was class valedictorian, and Nichole Woodruff was class salutatorian. Micke Kidd gave the commencement address.
The final graduation ceremony for Polk County high schoolers took place on Saturday, June 6, when Perrydale honored its 29 seniors receiving diplomas at a ceremony in the new gym at Perrydale School.
Christina Feil was class valedictorian, and longtime teacher Kirk Hutchinson gave the commencement address.
