INDEPENDENCE -- Independence Police are searching for a local man who eluded officers from three agencies during an arrest attempt in Old Town on Oct. 22.

An officer spotted Jesus Trujillo of Independence, who had a warrant for his arrest for violating probation on a robbery charge, walking on North Main Street.

The officer pursued Trujillo on foot, and Monmouth and Polk County law enforcement officials were called in to assist. But Trujillo escaped into a wooded area just south of Oak Street.

A K-9 search unit was called out, but was unable to locate the suspect.

Trujillo is Hispanic, about 5-feet-6-inches tall, and weighs 160 pounds. He's had multiple run-ins for drug and weapons offenses, police said.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Independence Police Department at 503-838-1214.
