DALLAS -- St. Thomas Episcopal Church is going to the dogs -- and cats and horses and bunnies and any other furry and not-so-furry animals on Oct. 4.
At 10 a.m. on Sunday, the church located at 1486 SW Levens St. is hosting a "Blessing of the Animals," a benefit for Willamette Humane Society.
All animals are invited as long as they are on a leash, halter or safely contained.
Rev. Jay McNurren will conduct a ceremony blessing animals, complete with songs and refreshments for both animals and their caretakers. For those who can't bring their pet to the ceremony, they can bring a photo, collar, toy or other item to represent their pet during the blessing. Prayers will be offered to honor pets who have passed on.
Organizers will be accepting donations of pet food, kitty litter, paper towels, clean blankets and towels, or money for the Humane Society. Bring donations to St. Thomas the morning of the blessing.
