4/28 Correction

A story headlined "Zone tweaking will speed ballfields," which appeared on Page 9A of the April 21 issue of the Itemizer-Observer, contained an error. Of a 12-acre section of land elevated to accommodate development near the ballfield complex project, only 1.2 acres of that parcel will be commercially developed. The rest will be used for low-density residential buildings. The I-O regrets the error.

In a story headlined "A Stitch in Time," which appeared on Page 9A of the April 14 issue of the Itemizer-Observer, a method of quilting was mistitled. It should have been referred to as "slash and dash." Also, the quilting style Rhue Luna used to create her quilt should have been listed as similar to those of the 1840s and 50s. In a Letter to the Editor headlined "Pope's leadership needed for position," which appeared on Page 4A of the March 31 Itemizer-Observer, two statements made may have led to confusion. Polk County Board of Commissioners candidate Craig Pope was at one time a member of but currently is not on the board of Polk County Fire District No. 1, and he is not currently chairman of the local volunteer firefighters association as the letter may have led readers to believe. He is a past president of the Polk No. 1 Firefighters Association.
