Dallas High boosters seek auction items

DALLAS -- The Dallas Booster Club is accepting donations of items for its 2010 fundraising auction.

The annual auction is scheduled Saturday, Sept. 18, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Polk County Fairgrounds in Rickreall.

Examples of donations sought by the group include weekend getaways, catered dinners, gift certificates, quilts, gift baskets, food items, and services.

Tickets are $20 per person. All proceeds from the event support the Dallas High School athletic program.

WESD fills vacancy on 9-member board

SALEM -- Dixon H. Bledsoe has been appointed to fill the vacant seat representing social services on the Willamette Education Service District Board of Directors.

Bledsoe, a resident of Silverton and the executive director of Silverton Area Community Aid Inc., was appointed to the position on Tuesday, Aug. 10.

His appointment gives WESD, which serves Polk County, a full nine-member board of directors as called for in its policy.


Students honored at Azusa Pacific

AZUSA, Calif. -- Three Polk County students were named to the 2010 spring semester academic dean's list at Azusa Pacific University. They are Lance E. Baker, a Biblical studies major from Dallas, Nicholas D. Homeyer, a theology major from Monmouth, and Kelly N. Pearson, a nursing major from West Salem. Students must earn a 3.5 or better grade-point average to qualify.
