Registration Continues For Dallas Schools

DALLAS -- Student registration for Dallas schools for the 2010-11 school year is under way.

DALLAS HIGH SCHOOL

Registration wil continue today (Aug. 18) and Thursday, Aug. 19, from noon to 7:30 p.m.

All necessary forms for athletic signups, free or reduced lunch and Home Access, as well as other programs will be available at the registration desk.

Returning students and incoming freshmen can pick up their schedules and pay fees, and parents can update student contact information.

Incoming students can get a locker assignment and a schedule. Counselors will be available to build schedules for new students on all four days.

Athletic paperwork, physicals, and insurance are required before athletes start daily doubles. Athletes who don't sign up until Monday, Aug. 23, will start daily doubles on Tuesday, August 24.

LaCREOLE MIDDLE SCHOOL

* Students with last names starting A-J -- Aug. 24, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 7 p.m.

* Students with last names starting K-Z -- Aug. 25, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 7 p.m.

* New students to the school district -- Aug. 26, 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.

Fees:

* Towel fees -- Seventh-and eighth-graders, $14; sixth-grader, $7.

* An optional PE uniform is available -- $16.

* Student agenda -- $10.

* FACS elective -- $10.

* 2010-11 yearbook -- $18 (optional).

Parents can also make a separate purchase of lunch tickets and applications for free and reduced lunch programs will be available.

Sixth-grade orientation camp will be held Aug. 24-26 and runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $25.

Sports:

The following sports will be offered at LaCreole Middle School: fall -- volleyball and football for seventh- and eighth-graders; spring -- track and field for all students. No winter sports will be offered.

All fall sports practices begin after school on Sept. 8, 2010.

There will be a mandatory meeting of all football team members on the first day of school from 3:30 to 4 p.m.

Students who miss registration may sign up for fall sports at the LaCreole office. There is a participation fee of $100 per sport, which must be paid prior to practicing. Proof of medical insurance is required for athletic participation. A sports physical is required every two years for participants. Check with the school if you are unsure about your student's status.

LYLE ELEMENTARY

Office open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Use the Levens Street entrance and follow registration signs.

OAKDALE HEIGHTS

WHITWORTH ELEMENTARY

Due to construction at Oakdale, student registration has been temporarily moved. Between the dates of Aug. 9 and August 20, Oakdale parents may register their child at Whitworth Elementary. Stop by the office anytime Monday - Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

After-school care (Latchkey) will be provided for elementary-aged students at Lyle and Whitworth. Oakdale Heights students will be served by the Whitworth Latchkey program. Salem Child Development Center, Inc. will be providing the after-school school-age program for the 2010-11 school year. Registration forms are available at each elementary school office. Enrollment forms are also available on the Dallas School District Web site at www.dallas.k12.or.us.
