DALLAS -- Police arrested a Dallas man Aug. 22 on multiple charges after he led an officer on a high-speed chase.
At about 4:45 p.m., Dallas Police Officer Jim Rodriguez attempted to stop a motorcycle on Southeast Godsey Road after witnessing it speeding. Instead of pulling over, the rider took off, heading out of town on Monmouth Cutoff Road and turning onto Clow Corner Road at speeds in excess of 70 mph, narrowly missing collisions with other traffic along the way.
The rider, identified as Douglas Sharp, 32, eventually lost control of his bike turning into a driveway in the 11000 block of Clow Corner Road and laid the bike down.
Rodriguez arrested Sharp on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, driving while suspended and attempting to elude police. Sharp was also cited on possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.
He is being held on $40,000 bail in the Polk County Jail.
