Police break up
party, 29 cited
INDEPENDENCE -- Twenty-nine people were cited for underage drinking last week after Independence Police broke up a large house party in a neighborhood on the north side of the city.
Officers responded to a complaint of noise and loud music emanating from a residence in the 600 block of Jasmine Circle at 11 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, police said.
There, they found more than 100 people packed inside the home, in the backyard and garage -- many of them visibly intoxicated.
Twenty-nine individuals, most of them 18 and 19 years old, were cited for being minors in possession of alcohol.
The tenant of the home, Henry Bennett Rivers, 23, was charged with furnishing liquor to minors and disorderly conduct in the second degree.
injures 4 people
POLK COUNTY -- Four people were injured in a two-car crash Saturday afternoon at Highway 22 and Greenwood Road.
At about 4:10 p.m. emergency crews responded to a report of the accident in which a pickup and car collided at the intersection.
All four occupants of the vehicles were injured and transported to the hospital, said Dallas Fire Training Officer Josh Darland.
Oregon State Police, Polk County Sheriff's Office, Dallas Fire, Southwest Polk Rural Fire District and Polk County No. 1 Fire Department responded to the scene.
snarls a.m. traffic
POLK COUNTY -- A single-vehicle accident stalled traffic on Highway 223 near Rickreall Road briefly Tuesday morning.
No injuries were reported in the single-vehicle rollover crash that occurred at about 7:55 a.m. Dec. 7, said Dallas Fire Training Officer Josh Darland.
No further information was available at press time.
