Perrydale's Jordan Moran to miss state

The wrestler has been sidelined with a shoulder injury.

PERRYDALE -- Perrydale junior Jordan Moran will not be able to defend his state wrestling title at this year's tournament because of a lingering injury to his left shoulder.

"I injured it in the first tournament of the season and it just kept getting worse," Moran said. "After the Dallas tournament, I pretty much realized I wasn't in any condition to be wrestling. I'm really disappointed. It's quite depressing, actually."

Moran won state in the Class 2A-1A tournament last season at 130 pounds. He had some success early this season, winning the title at 135 in the Dallas Invitational.

He still is unsure what exactly is wrong with the shoulder.

"I'm not entirely sure," he said. "I'm going to be seeing a physician. I went through a couple of months of physical therapy, and it didn't seem to be getting any better. I thought it might be a bigger program. Shoulders are pretty important in wrestling."
