1/27 Pedee News: Nola Womer

The ride to Pedee Memorial Evangelical Church with my nephew, Larry Shellenbarger of Buena Vista, and his wife, Mary, on Jan. 17 was under cloudy skies and occasional light rain. There was also fog in the distance at times.

A flock of swans was again enjoying the pond in the field at Maple Grove. There was steady rain on the trip back to Monmouth before noon.

Cars at the Pedee Church were those of adults attending their Sunday school class. The Christmas cactus in the foyer is still covered with pink blossoms. The small bulletin board has a display of adult church couples.

Pam Burbank played the prelude and all the other hymns and songs on the piano.

Pastor Mitch Lee opened the service with scripture reading and prayer. Then he picked up his guitar and played along with Burbank on the hymn "Solid Rock," as well as other songs.

Lee accepted the praise reports and prayer requests. Several attendees shared. He closed with prayer.

The hymn "Revive Us Again" was sung before the tithes and offerings were received.

The older children went for their lesson and activities.

Pastor Lee continued his messages in Philippians 1: 9-25. He closed with prayer. Then all stood and sang two verses of "It is Well with My Soul" before he gave the benediction.

The special news item in the Sunday bulletin at the bottom of page 3 was congratulations to Shawn and Trina Brotherton and sister Kalina, who welcomed baby Kindan Jan. 10 at 5:30 a.m.
