AIRLIE -- A two-alarm fire destroyed an Airlie family's home on Oct. 30.

Polk County Fire District No. 1 firefighters received a report of the incident at 16060 Airlie Road, less than a mile south of the intersection with Shady Lane Road, at about 7:30 p.m., Fire Marshal Jeff Donahue said.

Personnel arrived to find the first floor of the two-story house and its roof fully engulfed, Donahue said.

It took about an hour for almost two dozen firefighters from Polk No. 1, Dallas Fire Department and SW Polk County Rural Fire Protection District to get the blaze under control, Donahue said.

The owners of the three-year old residence, Jeff and Misti Timshel, were not at home at the time, Donahue said.

The house was considered a total loss, with damage to the structure and contents inside valued at roughly $400,000, Donahue said.
