FALLS CITY -- Terry Lamers, chairman of the Polk County Forestland Classification Committee, and other committee members will give a presentation to the Falls City City Council on Tuesday, Oct. 12.

The presentation will take place during the City Council meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Falls City Community Center.

Oregon Department of Forestry is reviewing lands within the boundaries of the West Oregon Forest Protection District, which includes Falls City. The review is intended to identify properties that should be classified as forestland. The five-member committee has been reviewing the area since May 2008.

The projected new mechanism would also add forest patrol assessment to the annual tax statement. Citizens are welcome to ask questions and voice concerns about the proposed changes.
