Times are falling and team is rising

The Dallas cross country team could be a force in the MWC meet.

DALLAS -- Dallas' cross country team continued to show improvement Oct. 2 in the Harrier Classic at Bryant Park in Albany.

"The team did awesome," Dallas coach Monique Lankheet said. "The girls team all got (personal records) and now stand third in the league. We are getting a little closer to second each meet we run. We had some strong performances from the boys, too. Overall, it was a great meet. I am so proud of everyone."

The Dragons and close to 40 other teams took part in the event, meaning there were several hundred runners on the course for each race.

Sophomore Clay Stuhr led the Dallas varsity on the 5,000-meter course. He finished 18th of 222 runners with a time of 16 minutes, 50 seconds.

Other top finishers for the Dragons were Alex Bird (38th place, 17:09), Ethan Noll (65th, 17:35), Nick Huerta (12th, 18:24) and Brandon Christenson (148th, 18:46).

Sophomore Mary Kate McGuire, who is also playing soccer for Dallas this fall, aced the girls by finishing 20th in a field of 203 with a time of 19:58.

Exchange student Breit Schei ran a 20:08 and finished 23rd. She was followed by Carleen Fall (50th, 21:03), Brenda Uribes (81st, 21:54) and Anne Barrientos (137th, 23:16).
