What is the biggest issue facing your district today and how would you deal with it?

"With Oregon's unemployment at 10.6 percent, the economy is the most critical issue facing the 5th district. My top priority will be promoting private sector job creation, economic growth and economic security. I believe in real tax reform and reduced government spending so that Americans and small businesses can be empowered to seek opportunity and create jobs. I am committed to Oregon's small businesses, and I will work to bring jobs back to our state."

What are some of the other issues facing your district and how would you deal with them?

"Oregon's 5th district has been burdened with the consequences of Washington, D.C.'s reckless policies. As federal spending and debt spirals out of control, it is clear that Congress needs to offer real solutions to the problems we face. That means real health care reform that increases access to quality and affordable care, controlling spending by passing a Balanced Budget Amendment, and ensuring that seniors maintain the Medicare and Social Security benefits they've been promised."

What is the biggest issue facing your district today and how would you deal with it?

"The most important issue right now is ending the failed wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. These wars have cost Americas over a trillion dollars and have cost countless tens of thousands of lives. In addition, it is time to end the wasteful spending of the military-industrial complex. During a time of real economic crisis we need to greatly reduce the over $700 billion outlay for the Pentagon and redirect that money toward domestic concerns."

What are some of the other issues facing your district and how would you deal with them?

"Oregonians in the 5th district desperately need health care. There are far too many people, including working class people, who do not have even the most basic health care coverage. I will work to support a single payer health care system to insure that all Oregonians have access to quality, affordable health care."

What is the biggest issue facing your district today and how would you deal with it?

"We need to help private businesses create jobs that will put Oregonians back to work. That's why I'm focused on increasing access to loans and cutting red tape to help small businesses make the investments that create jobs. I'm also fighting to bring job-creating resources home. I'm proud that we will be breaking ground on the new Polk County Armory in a couple of weeks. That's construction jobs now and more permanent jobs going forward."

What are some of the other issues facing your district and how would you deal with them?

"We must do everything in our power to provide the services and support our brave warriors and their families deserve as they return home. I'm committed to properly managing our forests to put jobs back in rural Oregon. We must also get our fiscal house in order as a country. That's why I voted against the bailout, voted against two congressional pay raises and have introduced legislation cutting $132 billion in waste, fraud and abuse."
