DALLAS -- The city of Dallas will be running a reduced leaf collection schedule this fall and winter due to budget cutbacks.
City crews go over all city streets collecting fallen leaves twice. The program used to run from October to December. Now the collection rotation will depend on weather conditions and will stop after two sweeps by the city.
Notice will be posted on the city's website and in the Itemizer-Observer two weeks before each pickup time.
In addition to the pickups, the city will also offer residents three leaf dropsites in town: the gravel lot west of the ball fields at Lyle Elementary School; the parking lot at Dallas City Park along Allgood Street; and at the east end of Hankel Street.
