Child Abuse Ed Workshop Set April 12

DALLAS -- A presentation on keeping children safe from child molesters will be held Tuesday, April 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the Media Room at Lyle Elementary School, 185 SW Levens St., Dallas.

DALLAS -- A presentation on keeping children safe from child molesters will be held Tuesday, April 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the Media Room at Lyle Elementary School, 185 SW Levens St., Dallas.

The workshop titled "Recognizing Child Molesters: A New Approach to Protecting Children," will include presentations on who offenders may be, why they offend, the tactics they use, problems with tradition prevention programs, talking to children about sex abuse, reporting sex abuse, and how to respond when children report abuse.

Representatives from the Polk County District Attorney's Office, Dallas, Independence and Monmouth police departments, Polk County Sheriff's Office, Department of Human Service/Child Welfare and Polk County Parole and Probation are scheduled to give presentations during the workshop.
