McDonald's manager top in region

DALLAS -- Jose Martinez, manager of the McDonald's Restaurant in Dallas, has received the McDonald's Outstanding Manager Award for the restaurant chain's Northwest Region.

This is the second time Martinez has received the honor.

"Jose is very customer service oriented. He loves to work on the floor and be with his customers and crew. I'll bet he knows half of his customers by name," said Randy Beaulaurier, local McDonald's franchise owner and operator. "We really enjoy the positive and fun environment he creates in his restaurant."

Martinez, an Independence resident, has been a McDonald's store manager since 2000. He began his McDonald's career as a crew person in 1997.

Martinez received his award during a ceremony on Friday, April 22, at the Dallas McDonald's, 227 E. Ellendale Ave.

New Dallas pub sets grand opening

DALLAS -- Sweeney's Pub & Lotto will hold a grand opening and ribbon cutting on Friday, April 29, at 5:30 p.m.

Dallas' newest pub, located at 117 E. Ellendale Ave., opened at the beginning of March. Friday's grand opening will feature food, drinks and a chance to meet the owners.

Envy looking for a `deserving mom'

DALLAS -- Envy Spa Salon is conducting a "Most Deserving Mom Mother's Day Contest," with entries due by Saturday, April 30, at 11:59 p.m.

The winner will receive a beauty and pampering session on Sunday, May 15. In addition, the person who nominated the winning mom will receive the same treatment session.

Entries must include: mom's name; your name, address and phone number; your relationship with the "mom"; and a short essay describing why your mom is the most deserving.

Entries may be mailed, hand delivered, e-mailed to info@envyspasalon.com, or submitted to www.facebook.com/envyspasalon.

The winners will be announced at Envy Spa Salon's "Mom's Night Out" party on Thursday, May 5, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Vendors needed for business fair

MONMOUTH -- The Monmouth Business Association is sponsoring a business fair on Friday, May 13, at the Monmouth Senior Center, 180 S. Warren St.

The event, which runs from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., will showcase displays of merchandise and services available from merchants and business in Monmouth. The fair will also feature refreshments, drawings for door prizes and giveaways from participating merchants.

Vendors are currently being lined up for the event. Display space at the fair is free for Monmouth businesses on a first-come, first-served basis.

Credit union receives recognition

POLK COUNTY -- OSU Federal Credit Union, with branches in Dallas and Monmouth, was awarded the highest national honors for its business development brochure and redesigned website at the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Marketing and Business Development Conference in Las Vegas in March.

CUNA also recognized OSU Federal with a Merit Award in the complete campaign category for its promotion of moving members to electronic statements with the incentive of donating trees to a reforestation project in Benton County.
