SALEM -- A body recovered in the Willamette River on April 17 by the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Salem Fire and Salem Police has been identified.
The body was that of Theo Charles Varon of Springfield.
Varon, 46, was reported as a missing person to the Springfield Police Department on March 14 and the vehicle he was known to be driving was located two days later at Alton Baker Park along the Willamette River in Eugene.
While there is no information that would lead the Polk County Sheriff's Office to believe Varon's death was the result of anything other than drowning, little is known about his activity shortly before being reported as missing.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Curtis Pitt of the Polk County Sheriff's Office at 503-623-9251 or the Springfield Police Department at 541-726-3714.
