Event will benefit Dallas band trip
DALLAS - The Dallas Band Boosters is sponsoring a bingo night, raffle, bake sale and silent auction fundraiser Saturday, Feb. 19, at Dallas High School, 1250 SE Holman Ave.
The event, which begins at 5 p.m. in the school Forum, will include traditional bingo, a raffle for an iPod Touch 32GB and other prizes, and a silent auction for an assortment of items.
Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20. Bingo is 50 cents per card or three cards for $1.25. Proceeds from the event benefit the Dallas High School band program's trip to Disneyland for the Disney Magic Music Program.
Prize donations are still being accepted.

Central FFA sets annual fundraiser
INDEPENDENCE -- Central FFA Alumni and the Central FFA Chapter will host their 19th annual fundraising auction and dinner Saturday, Feb. 26, in the CHS cafeteria, 1530 Monmouth St., Independence.
The event will include dinner as well as silent and oral auctions for an assortment of items ranging from gift certificates and gift baskets to tools and hardware, home decor and auto accessories. Those who sign up for a bidder number are entered into a drawing for a Traeger Smith & Weston .22 Magnum grill.
Dinner tickets, which cost $12 for adults, $6 for children 6-12, and are free for children 5 and under, are available at the door.

Perrydale grad receives recognition
SEARCY, Ark. -- Carisse Brewer of Monmouth is among the Harding University students included on the school's dean's list for grades achieved during the fall 2010 semester. To be eligible, students must be carrying 12 or more hours with a 3.65 or higher grade-point average and no incompletes. Brewer is a 2010 graduate of Perrydale High School.
Local duo qualify for PU dean's list
FOREST GROVE -- Mark Rohde of Rickreall and Philip Tolley of West Salem have been named to the dean's list for fall term 2010 at Pacific University. Rohde and Tolley are among 241 students at Pacific to earn the honor. To qualify, students must achieve a term grade-point average of 3.70 or higher and complete 12 or more graded course hours.
Independence woman earns honor
SALEM -- Julia Quiring of Independence is among the students who have qualified for the dean's list at Corban University for fall semester 2010. She posted a semester grade-point average of 3.87. Students must post a GPA of 3.60 or higher to qualify for the honor.
Five from Polk make grade at WOU
LA GRANDE -- Five individuals from Polk County were among the nearly 500 students who qualified for inclusion on the fall term 2010 dean's list at Eastern Oregon University. Receiving the recognition were Kendra Kuust of Dallas, Amanda Stoltz of Falls City, Leigh MacCarthy of Monmouth, and Joli McGrew and Davis Morris, both of West Salem. To qualify, students must achieve and maintain a grade-point average of 3.50 or higher while completing 12 or more graded course hours.
